The Hope For Change

             Foundation

Our Mission.

The Hope For Change Foundation was created to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research through theatrical programming. Built upon the principal that increased recognition of the disease strengthens the possibilities of finding a cure, HFC entertains and educates in order to spread our mission and aid organizations dedicated to the research of breast cancer.

The Facts

  • Breast cancer is the most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in women.
  • In 2009, studies projected that about 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer would be diagnosed in women, with an estimated 40,170 dying from the disease according to the American Cancer Society.
  • While earlier detection and improved treatment are attributed to the decline of breast cancer death rates, thousands of mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, and friends will fall victim still.
For this reason, increased awareness, education, and research
of breast cancer must be achieved. And here is where
The Hope For Change Foundation comes in!

Where We Started

The indirect start of The Hope For Change Foundation was in the fall of 1997, when a group of high school students decided to put on a theatrical production in order to raise funding for a local soup kitchen called H.O.P.E. (Help Our People Eat) Community Services.

In February of 1998, New Rochelle, NY witnessed the beginning of a new community theater group known as The HOPE Players, their name derived from the organization they were helping with their production. The HOPE Players’ first show was a success and they continued to put on a show each summer. After six shows and five years of donating to the H.O.P.E. Soup Kitchen, leading members of the HOPE Players decided it was time to change their cause. Driven by the will to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer, veteran HOPE directors and crew members, some whose lives have been personally affected by this disease, founded The Hope For Change Foundation in 2003.

With the new foundation came a new cause for the HOPE Players, as they now work under the umbrella of The Hope For Change Foundation, also striving to aid organizations dedicated to breast cancer research through theatrical programming. In addition to their change of cause, the HOPE Players underwent a visual change and officially became the Hope Players. These two groups continue to work together to fight against breast cancer with their productions.
